瑞士的签证申请和大多数西方国家差不多，但依然有一些大同小异之处，比如申请费用等。现将瑞士签证的种类和和申办时所需文件列出如下。
基本资料：
护照（自离开瑞士后起算，护照至少须有六个月有效期）；
身份证复印件（外国人士，中国华侨居留认证、复印件）；
2寸近照一张；
本人亲自签名之申请表一份。
签证费用：大人900元，未满十八岁450元（未满十八岁之申请人，表格须加父或母签名并附上签名人之护照复印件，若父母未能同行出国，须附家长同意书）
一，观光签证
基本资料、费用，来回机票正、复印件，下一站国家的签证；在职认明（从申请日起一个月赴瑞士，停留不超过30天者及已有申领签证者，可免在职认明）
二，商务签证
基本资料，在职证明，邀请函：瑞士公司来的'商务邀请函或往来联络传真。商务签证900元，两年1800元，三年2700元。
三，访问签证
基本资料、费用，来回机票正复印件；邀请函或担保声明书；一个月短期居留者，提供瑞士亲友之邀请或传真，欲长期居留者，须向外事警察局提出担保声明，表格可向本单位索取填写后寄至瑞士，由亲友向其户籍所在地之外事警察局提出申请；签证申请表格及文件送至本办事处，担保手续经审核通过后（通常须一个半月），可持护照前来签证。
四，短期进修签证
基本资料、签证费，来回机票正、复印件；入学许可书。以上所述为送件基本资料，依状况如有所需、将进一步要求其它文件。
五，瑞士学生签证申请
三份填妥并签名之新签证申请表，申请表可直接向瑞士商务办事处索取；三张2寸近照；三份入学许可书确认书复印件；一份护照复印件；某些特殊案件瑞士外事警察局有可能会要求进一步文件。
居留超过3个月以上的学生即需申请学生签证，任何外国人若计划在瑞士求学超过3个月以上即需申请学生签证。此过程可能须花2个月，甚至更久的时间才能接到回复，一旦审核通过，则瑞士外事警察局将签发授权书以便申请入境签证。瑞士商务办事处一旦接到此函后，申请者即可来办理学生签证。至于申请不超过3个月语言课程（含暑期班）的学生签证，则仅需附上一份入学许可证及回程机票。此项手序只需3个工作日。需特别注意的是，勿以观光签证入境抵瑞士后再转换成学生签证，因为申请有可能为瑞士外事警察局拒绝。
